21 Things I’ve Learned in 21 Years

I recently turned 21 and I don’t know how, because it felt like I was just in high school (even though I’m a junior in college now). People really aren’t exaggerating when they say life goes by fast. Thank you so much to everyone that wished me a happy birthday and made it one to remember. I’ve made so many lovely friends through blogging and the community that it creates, so that has been really awesome. Throughout my 21 years, I’ve definitely learned over 21 things, but these are some random ones that have stood out to me!

  1. Being an introvert is not a bad thing, even though it may make some things harder.
  2. Life would be so much more miserable without animals.
  3. Dogs can make you feel 10x happier when you are down.
  4. Finding a creative outlet (i.e. blogging, crafting, photography) is important for your well-being.
  5. Shopping can be a form of therapy, so don’t feel bad for treating yourself (but not too much).
  6. Never turn down an opportunity to travel. Try to as much as possible.
  7. Reading a book can make you feel like you’re in another world if it’s a good enough one.
  8. Self-care is very important and should not be overlooked.
  9. Eating healthy truly makes you feel psychically and mentally better.
  10. Take time to spend time outside and be in nature, because it can be calming.
  11. Your mom really is your best friend.
  12. When it comes to friendships, it’s all about quality over quantity.
  13. Coffee or tea instantly puts you in a cozy mood, so always have it on hand.
  14. Sometimes you need to stay in bed a little longer, so don’t feel bad for resting.
  15. Stand up for yourself, especially since being an introvert can lead to people talking over you.
  16. Dessert is always a must, forever and always.
  17. It takes time to figure out what you want to major in and that’s okay.
  18. Plants and flowers can bring life to a room.
  19. Don’t be afraid to ask for help, no matter how big or small.
  20. Remember to take your vitamins every day.
  21. Worrying doesn’t help you solve a problem, and I know its easier said than done, but try your best not to.

So there you have it, short and sweet! Thanks for reading! If you want to share any life lesson or tips you’ve found, I’d love to hear in the comments!

first off, happy birthday! second, this was an amazing list. I can totally relate to the introvert one. It was between 21 and 22 that I started to have a “dgaf” attitude about my introversion. I was getting way too caught up in pleasing others when I should have been focusing on my own confidence and happiness!
