Fall Favorites

Happy fall y’all! Its already nearly the middle of October and the weather is actually slightly (very slightly though) cooling down where I live so it actually kind of feels like it finally. Today, I’m sharing my favorites for the fall time. I’ll admit some of them are kind of cliche (dare I say, basic), but if its not broke, no need to fix it. These pretty much all have to do with comfort and coziness, because, let’s be real, that’s the overall goal of fall, right?

This one is no surprise, because when you think of fall, you can’t not think of pumpkins. There are just so many uses for them. Carving, painting, eating, using as props in pictures, the list goes on. I prefer painting over carving, because there are so many cute ideas on Pinterest and what’s better than a pastel-colored pumpkin?

And as for pumpkin-flavored foods, we all knows its everywhere, but if you’re looking for a healthier way to incorporate it into your diet (i.e. so not pumpkin spice lattes or pumpkin pie everyday), my go-to is to add pumpkin puree into oatmeal with cinnamon, and maybe even a little maple syrup, and it literally tastes like pumpkin pie. So that’s usually my go to breakfast everyday during fall.

And again, no surprise here. But fall just wouldn’t be fall without them. Everyone loves Bath and Body Works, but you can also find some good ones at Tjmaxx and Marshalls (aka my favorite stores) for even cheaper. My favorite scents are anything with caramel, vanilla, or pumpkin, so basically all of the really sweet scents, probably due to my major sweet tooth.

Cozy Blankets

Fo maximum coziness during the season, a go-to blanket, such as a thick knitted or furry one, is essential. I kind of have a blanket collection now, because I’ve become slightly obsessed. But the good news is, this is also a multi-use item, because they come in handy for flatlay instagram pictures, as shown here and here.

Halloween Movies

I’ve never been a fan of scary movies, so for Halloween, I just go for the classics. The Scream series is pretty much my scare limit. Hocus Pocus and Halloweentown are my absolute favorites, as I’m sure a lot of people can relate, and I find myself watching them too many times throughout the month of October.

Hot Drinks

You know when you get all cozied up with those previously mentioned items (wrapped in a cozy blanket, halloween movie playing, fall candles burning), yeah, to make that scene even more picture perfect, a warm drink is needed. It really doesn’t even matter what it is (hot chocolate, tea (like this majorly aesthetically pleasing cup), apple cider, or just good ole’ coffee) you just need it for the overall vibe.

Have you noticed a theme yet? Comfort and coziness is the key. Sweaters are usually my go-to for every day during the season, but I’ve yet to put mine to good use, because of how extremely hot it has been here, but I have hope. Again, I find some really cute ones at Marshalls and Tjmaxx for a really good bargain. I’ve been loving ones with flare sleeves.

And last, but not least, something that I want to start doing more. Watching movies and netflix is always nice, but sometimes taking time to read a good book can be really relaxing. I used to read for fun a lot more than I do now and I want to get back into it. So please feel free to leave me book suggestions!

Let me know your favorites for fall in the comments!

I love all fall cliches, no matter how basic they are! I love diving into some more supernatural/magic-themed books to fit the Halloween season, and I especially loved “The Night Circus” and “The Witches of New York.”

I love your fall things — they are pretty much the same as mine! I’ve actually been limiting my TV intake in favor of some reading and though it’s slightly tough to convince myself in the moment, soon I’m lost in a book and glad that I made the choice. Right now I’m reading Eight Hundred Grapes (a novel by Laura Dave) – and I have a few books on my list for October (working on that post now). As for recommendations — I loved Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott, Finding the Lost Art of Empathy by Tracy Wilde, and Daring Greatly by Brene Brown.
